About Blomster Designs

Our Story

Back in 1997, I founded Blomster Designs with a passion for flowers and a belief that beautiful things have the power to bring joy and create lasting memories. What began as a small business has grown into something I could never have imagined, and the journey has been every bit as rewarding as the flowers themselves.

Along the way I was lucky enough to meet Claire, who shared my love of creativity, travel and all things Scandinavian. We married, started a family and together have built not only Blomster Designs Flowers, but also the wider Blomster Designs family of businesses. Today, we continue to work side by side, sharing the same enthusiasm and passion that first inspired us all those years ago.

The name Blomster, which is Danish for flowers, reflects our love of Scandinavia. Through our travels across Denmark and beyond, we have developed a deep appreciation for Scandinavian design, nature and the simple beauty that surrounds us. Those influences can be seen throughout everything we do, from our floral designs to our carefully curated collections of homeware and gifts.

Over the years we have had the privilege of creating flowers for weddings, events, luxury hotels, businesses and private homes throughout Surrey, London and the Home Counties. From intimate family celebrations to large-scale occasions, every project receives the same care and attention to detail.

Even after nearly 30 years, I still have the same energy and enthusiasm that inspired me in the beginning. I love what I do, I love working with Claire, and I feel incredibly fortunate that our customers have allowed us to be part of so many special moments in their lives.

How green is Blomster Designs Flowers?

If there's one thing we appreciate at Blomster Designs Flowers, it's our beautiful planet.

This is an incredible planet we live on and we want to help keep it that way.

So what do we do at Blomster Designs?

We are well aware that being an industry based on imports, our combined carbon footprint could be smaller.

Here are just a few of the ways that we are working to reduce our footprint:

We buy 99% of our flowers from Holland and they are delivered directly to us cutting out trips to the market saving on miles, fuel & emissions

We have switched to using biodegradable floral foam if we need to use it and design as much as possible to be in vases with water and chicken wire

We sort all of our rubbish and send all plastics be recycled and green waste to be composted

We wrap flower boxes and use them to transport bridal flowers and cardboard we can't use is recycled

To reduce our use of cellophane and tissue paper, we have introduced the reusable porta-vase for both our local and nationwide bouquet deliveries. Our bouquets are set in water in the porta-vase and presented in a recyclable cardboard presentation box.
